parenthood

A new girl named Lisa from my bootcamp
joined our running group on Saturday for
our long run. She was talking about her kids...
a six year old and a 16 month old.
I heard her say "I'm trying not to wish it away."
In my head I was thinking "Check, guilty, been there, done that."
Its so hard not to wish that sometimes you could push
the fast forward button to the time when your little one
can go to the bathroom by themselves
(or when you can go to the bathroom alone)
or they can get dressed on their own or
{insert whatever stage your kid is in
that seems so hard and feels like it will never pass}.

because it does pass. and quickly.
And like the country song says
"You're gonna miss this, you're gonna want this back
you're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast."
Truer words have never been spoken.

  1. Thank you for this precious reminder ... I need to remember this at all times. Sometimes it's so easy to feel frazzled or inpatient. Thank you for this!
