Better than I used to be

I love me some Tim McGraw and have now for more than a decade. I used to make fun of country music.

I remember my first job out of college I worked in a big analytical lab where the main prep area was one huge room with lots of chemists sharing space and equipment. One unspoken rule was the first one there for the day got to choose the radio station hence my introduction to country music (it took a while but eventually I became hooked).  Uggh...I hated that place but the people were good (at least all the ones in that lab were, I used to think the big boss was the anti-Christ but I digress) and I learned alot...about chemistry and the working world but also as with any first job right after college you start learning who you are and who you want to be.

I've made loads of mistakes, some that will haunt me until the day I die. I cringe when I look back on a couple of very wrong choices BUT I can say without a doubt that I wont make them again and thankfully (I think) I learned the lessons that the universe was begging me to learn.

I heard a new Tim McGraw today...and these words caught me in my heart:
"I'm learning who you've been
Ain't who you've got to be...

...I’m cleaning up my act little by little
I’m getting there
I can finally stand the <wo>man in the mirror I see
I ain’t as good as I’m gonna get
But I’m better than I used to be"
