leaning in

I mentioned Brene Brown in a previous post.
My sister brought up her TED talk and we sat and watched it
in the hospital waiting room last month when my dad was in hospital,
the three of us huddled over a little iphone.
I said it then and I'll say it again...her talk was life-changing.
The biggest thing I gleaned from her talk...
To lean into my discomfort.
Don't run from it.
I think I've been doing just that in my forties - doing things that scare me.
Now I have a little mantra to repeat in my head
when I start to freak out get nervous...lean into my discomfort.
Don't let it stop you...let it grow you.

In another instance of coincidence where I believe
the universe is talking directly to me
yesterday I saw this on zen habits.
Highly recommend here to read the whole post
but in case you don't have time to read the whole thing
this little ditty sums it up perfectly:

 {not bad for my first foray in photoshop huh?}

I'm growing this weekend...
another set of pilates teacher certification classes
where I'll be reaching outside my comfort zone
and leaning in to discomfort for the next 36 hours or so.
Pray for me :)

  1. I watched the Brene Brown TED talk when you posted it and it was life changing for me too. One of the great things about blogging is being able to share things like that...thank you! I want my daughters to see it also. I plan on reading the zen habits post as soon as I have the time...keeping you in my prayers!
